For 25 years now, I have been working in the optical industry with great enthusiasm. For the past 15 years, I have proudly been co-owner of Ponsioen Optiek together with my wife, Chantal. On November 27, 2010, we opened the doors of our store – a special milestone we still look back on with pride.
My passion lies in performing highly precise eye examinations, always aiming to achieve the best possible visual acuity for each client. Comprehensive binocular testing and prism measurements are naturally part of this process. In addition, I enjoy advising and fitting frames and contact lenses, as well as focusing on myopia management to help slow down the progression of nearsightedness.
I also take great pride in contributing to the future of our profession as a practical trainer for aspiring opticians and contact lens specialists.
Together with our team, we dedicate ourselves every day to one clear promise: quality that you don’t just experience, but truly see. With us, quality becomes visible — that is what we stand for.
After completing all required training and gaining many years of experience in the optical industry, it was time for a new challenge: opening my own store. With the founding of Ponsioen Optiek, that dream became a reality.
My passion is to practice the optical profession exactly as we envision it: with attention to detail, craftsmanship, and personal style. From precise eye examinations to perfectly fitting eyewear. I also greatly value the technical side of the profession, working in the workshop where glasses are crafted with care and precision.
In 2022, a second business was added to this journey: Dutch Planner Company. Through this company, my creativity and organizational passion come together in designing stylish and practical planners that help people bring structure and clarity to their daily lives.

After many enjoyable years working in the jewelry industry, I made the transition to Ponsioen Optiek in 2014. I was ready for a new challenge – and I have certainly found it here.
Advising people in choosing a new pair of glasses feels very natural to me. In my previous role, I helped customers select the perfect piece of jewelry; now I guide them in finding frames that truly suit them. Ultimately, glasses are not just a visual aid, but also a piece of jewelry for the face. They are an accessory that highlights your personality and is worn every single day.
My passion for fashion and art plays an important role in my work. You can see this reflected in my choice of frames: I am drawn to high quality, distinctive details, unique prints, and striking color combinations. Glasses should stand out, have character, and perfectly complement someone’s appearance.
The most rewarding part of my work? Working together with the customer to find that one frame where everything comes together – shape, color, and feeling. When someone recognizes themselves in the mirror and lights up with confidence, I know my mission has been accomplished.
